We care about our communities

Botrivier Crèche Initiative

The FNB Wines2Whales has adopted various crèches in the town of Botrivier in a continued effort to give back to this impoverished community along the route of the event. FNB Wines2Whales and its partners see this as an investment in the future of kids and schools to assist in providing quality and educational care. The project is aimed at the renovation, maintenance and supply of necessary items of and to crèches in the Botrivier community. An educational library has been established with the help of Big Box containers converted for storage and safely kept on Beaumont Wine Farm.

The Crèches supported in Botrivier are Khulani Daycare Centre, Lucky Point Crèche, Angels United Crèche, ABC/123 Crèche, Kammaland Crèche and in the Thandi Community Crèche. Through this initiative the FNB Wines2Whales believes that we can make a sustainable difference, and with your and our partners support, in many more communities along the Wines2Whales route and beyond.

For more information of how you can get involved contact the race office at info@wines2whales.com or visit our facebook page

Cape Trails Youth Development Initiative

The Cape Trails programme is an FNB Wines2Whales youth development initiative. Aswell, Pikkie, Denzel and Murzeon are the founding members and they sub-contract work, when required. They are also contracted to provide services during the FNB W2W events and at other events. They have also started a youth gym in Grabouw and if you have equipment to donate.

The objective of the Cape Trails Youth Development Initiative is centred around 3 key elements:

  • Create an interesting, rewarding and sustainable youth employment and development;
  • Mentor willing and able youth (previously unemployed) to effectively manage their own SMME and destination;
  • Train, equip and support Cape Trails to build and maintain MTB trails which create ever-lasting and magical MTB experiences for mountain bikers.

Supported Charities

The FNB Wines2Whales has always prided itself on giving back to the communities the race visits as well as numerous worthy causes dear to the hearts of the thousands of participants who compete each year. Each year an allocation of free entries is made available to these causes which are then sold to raise much needed funds for their projects.
